Summary and Info
I am very impressed by this book. I think it is the best book on transport available. It covers a huge amount of stuff. Some topics can be found in other books, like Landauer, Kubo, etc. But some are unique to this book: noise, electron-ion interactions, hydrodynamics, DFT, etc. What I like the most is the style: unlike other books on the subject, the author makes a serious effort to point out the approximations required to derive a given equation. The reader is thus guided through the physics and the details of each equation, so that they do not seem to come out of nowhere. Difficult topics are explained with great clarity, making the book an easy read. This is an excellent resource for students and professionals to learn transport.

Massimiliano Di Ventra is an American Italian theoretical physicist who has made several contributions to Condensed-Matter Physics, especially transport properties of nanoscale systems, non-equilibrium statistical mechanics of many-body systems, DNA sequencing by tunneling, memristors, memcapacitors, and meminductors.
