Summary and Info
The objective of Abdominal Imagingis to provide readers with the best of both worlds: a referencethat is both comprehensive and that incorporatesfeatures more typically found in handbooks—short, readablesentences, key fact boxes, summary tables, abbreviatedreference lists, listings of important review articles, and, above all, a highly integrated knowledge base thatallows readers to rapidly access key content from anyInternet-connected computer anywhere in the world./.../ we assembled an internationalgroup of over 130 expert authors who contributeda total of 136 chapters. Each author created a chapterbased on adherence to a template. This approach allowsthe reader to treat the text as a dynamic resource; insteadof reading an entire chapter to find a pertinent fact, thereader can simply turn to the section of interest andrapidly access needed knowledge. We are well aware thatuseful Radiology texts should have many images forreview, and we have taken care to richly illustrate thechapters with over 2,500 images of excellent quality. Thechapters have also been supplemented with illustrativeboxes titled Key Points, Classic Signs, and What the ReferringPhysician Needs to Know. These boxes providetightly focused synopses so that a busy reader may gleanthe most crucial information in the precious few minutesthat are available during a typical day at the reportingworkstation. For those who wish to deepen their knowledgebeyond the text, a list of key references and reviewarticles has been provided in every chapter. In this way,we hope to facilitate self-study in the many potential areasof reader interest. The text also comes with access toImaging Consult online, the searchable decision supporttool that allows the reader to rapidly retrieve useful informationand greatly facilitates the practical use of our twovolume“handbook.”
